Life can be full of pain. There will always be darkness, and there will always be suffering. There is something about life, that no matter what there will always be something bad. There will always be some kind of resentment. Some kind of evil lurking in the shadows. It’s always a dark maze and trying to get out of it can seem like an endless spiral of nothingness. Yet, there is still hope. There is still chance that there can be light. There can be happiness in the midst of a storm. And I know.

Having my family taken away... having everything taken. The fire... blazing in every direction. There was no end... there was no beginning. I was too young... too young to know what was going on. Being five, the only thing I knew was wonder. Than, in the midst of a regular day, fire. Fire in every corner of the house. Everything started to set on fire.. screams, cries, constant yelling, my parents told me to take Natalie and myself out of the house. I had to listen, it was the only thing I knew

I ran out of the house, sweat beading my forehead. I felt no pain, the smoke didn’t come into my lungs. I couldn’t feel or smell anything. All I felt was fear, I held Natalie’s hand, telling her to keep going. She had just woken up, and she was worried. “Where’s mommy?” She asked. “She’ll come after,” I promised. “Mommy promised to come soon.” We ran through the falling boards and falling debris. We dodged every sharp object, and tried to get out. I threw Natalie in front of me. “GO!” I yelled.

“But What about...” Natalie asked. “GO!” I replied. I saw a wood plank starting to break. I pushed my sister forward enough for her to escape the crashing boards blocking the path. “ADAM!” She yelled. “I’m fine! I’ll find another way!” I called. “I-I’m scared!” Natalie whimpered. “Don’t be,” I replied. “Be strong Natalie! Go!” She looked at me through the cracks of the board and nodded. She immediately started running. I ran as well in the other direction looking for another exit.

I couldn’t see where I was going, smoke in every direction. I tried to swat it away. I coughed, smoke filling my lungs. I kept moving. I found a place where fire hadn’t touched. But the wood had fallen, blocking the path. Without thinking, I grabbed be board and lifted it up with all my little kid strength. Call it adrenaline if you will, but I was able to lift it up enough for me to slip past. I heard yelling. Natalie... I ran as fast as I could trying to to get past the other boardsz

I panted, trying to find my way around. I looked up and down, looking for a loop hole. I had to help Natalie. I heard another shriek. I had to help her. I kept running and finally I saw an exit. I saw a hole that I could escape through. I kept running, already out of breath. Finally, I jumped. I jumped over the board that was blocking me. However, the fire singed the right part of my arm. I yelled in pain but kept going ignoring the sting it was emitting. I kept running farther and went outside.

Outside, I expected to see sirens, I expected to see police. But no.. I didn’t see any. All I heard was yelling and screaming and crashing boards from inside the house. I ran to find Natalie, and I saw her standing in front of our house, with two dead bodies next to her. Her hands were shaking, her eyes widened. Thousands of vines were surrounding her, and I saw the vines wrapped around the dead bodies. The vines started to twine around her arms. “Natalie! Your arms!” I replied. “Adam!” She said

Immediately, the vines around her stopped and disappeared into the ground. She ran toward me strangling me in a hug. “Thanks gosh you’re alive,” I murmured. “I thought you died...” Natalie replied. “I heard screaming... I thought you were in trouble,” I answered. “What...” I pointed to the two bodies. “I-I... I was in trouble. Two bad guys.. they came with guns,” Natalie whimpered. “Said they would shoot me. I didn’t want that. I called on trees to whack them, like a piñata. And they did.”

“You... you made the trees whack them?” I asked. She nodded. “I-I’m scared Adam, I’m really scared! I don’t know what happened...!” “It’s going to be okay,” I answered. “We’lll be fine.” “Where’s mommy and daddy?” Natalie asked. “They... are still inside,” I answered. “I’ll get them.” I started to run toward the house but Natalie stopped me. “No Adam! Don’t do that!” “We need to get them back!” I answered. “They will come,” Natalie answered. “They promised..” “I need to find them,” I insisted.

Suddenly, I heard gunshots. Two gunshots... one after another. I heard two yells... and it soon grew still. “MOMMY? DADDY??” Natalie cried. “Oh no,” I answered. “No no no no...” I tried to walk in.... I tried to find a way in. But all the exits were blocked. It was silent... too silent. I didn’t hear voices, but I heard a gun cocking. They were still there.... they couldn’t. I felt anger burst through my veins. I felt the anger seeping through every vein, I felt nothing but rage.

My eyes glowed bright blue. I saw runes tracing my hands with bright blue energy. I saw the clouds ahead starting to darken, and started to gray. I heard a slight rumble, and a crack in the sky. I yelled and lightning struck the ground. Than a lightning struck the house. Two yells after another, electrical sounds sounding. Then it went silent. Everything went silent. “A-Adam?” Natalie asked me. I didn’t answer, too angry to reply. My Eyes turned back to normal. Suddenly, I heard sirens.

Too late. The sirens were too late. Police swarmed the area, investigating the area. They took me And Natalie to the ambulance. They talked about the sudden fire... the four dead bodies in the house and two in the backyard. They tried to figure out if we were hurt, we had no injuries that were fatal.. except the scar on my arm from the burn. We were surprisingly healthy, they thought. How could is be possible for two normal kids to be fine during fire and murder? We didn’t dare tell them.

All I felt was anger. I didn’t trust them. They said they would help. But... they were too late. “Wheres mommy and daddy?” Natalie asked me again. I stayed silent not daring to tell her the answer. But when she saw the two bodies rolling up to the ambulance she gasped. “No..” She answered. “They promised...” “They saved us Natalie,” I replied back. “They saved us...” It still didn’t help the burning pang of resentment. Those people... the rebels. They would pay. They would pay for all of it.

No, I did not become a full blown murderer. No, I did not become an assassin. After running away from the hospital, me and Natalie lived out in the forest, trying to survive. There was no definite answer to where we could go. We just had to run, fight, we weren’t Normal. We realized this now. That’s the reason why she could kill those two people. How I could summon lightning.... how we managed to be healthy during the traumatic experience. It just didn’t make any sense at all...

Then, we found refuge in the oasis. After years of running, we had found the one place were people like us. People who were misfits, who had supernatural powers like us. They took us in as their own, and called us family. We were given many things, and we learned lots of secrets. I learned things about myself that I didn’t know about... and I didn’t dare tell Natalie what I knew. It would hurt her more than it hurt me. We met Liam, we ended up training to use our powers well, and make goodness.

Now, we were present day. The chosen one had been found, Genesis. I promised my life to serve the supernatural. To avenge my father and mother. To avenge their deaths. To prove them dying would not come in vain. I knew that Genesis was going to be able to save us, I had faith in her. She was the one person that was easy to trust, something about her, something about how she acts, the way she is, I knew that I could trust her. And I had to trust her, there was no other way. I just had to.

Than, she was fighting a dark figure, or Seth, and she ended up dying. She caused great grief not just on Liam or Natalie, it was also on me. Liam stayed holed up in his room, and Natalie cried a lot and felt bad. I think I took it the worst. Think about it. A person I trusted, dead at my feet. My parents I trusted, dead on the ground. It was too much. I felt like I destroyed everything I touched. I lashed out on objects to express my anger and resentment, ending up tearing up the room.
