Tuesday beautiful bird challenge hosted by our beautiful friend Susan Bird for hosting this wonderful challenge. Thank you my Recolor family for all youโre kind words & support. This is: Pileated Woodpecker. Iโm sorry Susan, that I canโt write info on this bird. Having trouble concentrating. ๐บ
What a gorgeous pileated woodpecker, Diane! So beautifully colored! The Pileated Woodpecker is one of the biggest, most striking forest birds in North America. Itโs nearly the size of a crow, black with bold white stripes down the neck and a flaming-red crest. It whacks at dead trees and fallen logs in search of its main prey, carpenter ants, leaving unique rectangular holes in the wood. Thank you for sharing this lovely woodpecker and for joining the Beautiful Bird Challenge.
