The Rough-legged Hawk (aka Rough-legged buzzard) is a medium-large bird of prey that breeds in Arctic and subarctic regions globally and migrates south for winter. It is adapted to cold climates with feathers extending to its toes, and it hunts by soaring, hovering, and perching in open areas like tundra, fields, and marshes, preying on small mammals.
