Lesson Time! “The New Look of 1947” On February 12, 1947, a virtually unknown designer named Christian Dior catapulted to international stardom with the launch of his debut haute couture collection. Immediately upon its reveal, fashion critic and Harper's Bazaar editor-in-chief Carmel Snow (a fascinating woman) exclaimed, "It's quite a revelation, dear Christian. Your dresses have such a new look!". The New Look became what is the possibly most iconic debut collection of all time. 👇🏼

Magnificent!! The short era 1947-1953 or so saw some of the most gorgeous haute couture ever crafted thanks to Dior, Chanel, and Givenchy. I admit, however, my Motto is “if I can’t wear blue jeans i don’t want to go.”

@Riverbank I’ve seen pictures of such dramatically cinched waists that I have to wonder how a woman could survive even a couple hours! At this point, if I can’t wear jammies I’m staying home 😂

@Glitterspray Oh I totally agree. People don’t care anymore. Yesterday I kid you not my husband and I were in Macy’s and this lady had bedroom slippers. Also, wearing tight tight sweatpants cut into shorts and half shirt. I’m sure she thiuyahe was beautiful but honey when your gut hangs out and your wearing pants or shorts that make you look like a stuffed sausages is just NOT pretty.

Yes you’re right. My niece looks great in the street look. She is 16, 5’8” long gazelle neck, platinum blonde very short hairstyle like shaved on the side and the back I think a number two maybe a three she’s milky white long legs. So you can only imagine @Glitterspray

@Sajeda🦋Marisa Like @Glitterspray I think I hate your niece. 😆 I’ve seen the bedroom slippers at the supermarket look. And anyone wearing tight leggings outside the gym needs to make sure to check a “rear view” mirror first 😀😀😀

@Riverbank @Sajeda🦋Marisa I’ve seen bedroom slippers at Sheetz late at night and I do get a kick out of that. It’s like, after 11 pm we’re all just in a big dorm and hitting the snack machine 😂 @Sajeda🦋Marisa we’ll try not to give your niece any bad juju. Maybe just an occasional short-lasting zit ... 🙂😂
