This is KINDA how I remember The Grand Canyon at dusk.
Many years ago I spent two weeks at the bottom of it, rafting The Colorado River.
Of course the desert changes constantly through the course of a day.

4 years agoI’ve never been, but that was my first thought when I saw this picture that you’ve colored so impressively. The colors you’ve used add a glow to the picture. That is exactly what I’d expect with all the red rocks, sand and dirt and the colors of the sun setting. It’s so beautiful!!

It’s kinda impressionistic. The water isn’t very much like that color; it just worked for this pic.
I could (and may) do other versions: morning, high noon, midnight ... 🙂

4 years agoLOVE THE COLORS—so very beautiful! You need to check out Alt National Park & Forest Service (if you have FB) if not google their website — they made vintage posters based on the worst yelp reviews of national forests—they are so funny—The Grand Canyon—A Hole. A Very, Very Large Hole. The posters are beautiful yet funny.

4 years ago@Lionfish it’s amazing at any time of day. Even my first visit, which was simply stopping for a view from the rim, blew me away. The immensity of space and silence and color ... you feel like you’re visiting earth millennia before humans arrived.

4 years agoI’ll write myself a memo and forget where I put it, to visit there if I ever get a chance to go to America!!😍😍😍 I’ll store it right next to my memos to see the Rift Valley, Table Mountain, the Dayr el-Bahri, Petra and Lalibela... sadly, the list is getting too long, and I’m stuck at home because of a stupid virus!!😡😢🤓 (& I’m secretly hoping this comment will get you stuck in Wikipedia for a few hours!!🤗❤️😂😂🤣)
