WEAR A MASK. Sunday April 5, 2020 Both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have revised (some would say reversed) their guidelines regarding the general public wearing masks. They now say EVERYONE should be wearing one in public. Both agree that medical masks should be reserved for medical personnel, and that a cloth mask will provide a TEMPORARY barrier from viruses. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

Here’s what you need to know: 1. You can google ways to make masks, including no-sew versions. 3. No matter what you use, it’s TEMPORARY and must laundered (hot water) as soon as removed. 4. Do not shake it! You want any viruses to stay on it, not be scattered in the air. Hardly anyone seems to be aware of the new guidelines. So PLEASE pass the word!!!

Made the no-sew version for myself and husband today! 😷

@Riverbank remember they don’t keep you safe for long! I make only quick errands and immediately remove and wash so I think I’m okay for now. I was really glad to see no-sew versions. I was lazy and bought two dozen bandannas on eBay — most of which I’ll give away.

Hey, G! I began the Stay Home thing in February. My husband works with dangerous chemicals so we have some great respirators but I did the no sew thing with a bandana. Hubby was not happy and refused to wear that. *MEN!* *ugh*. Therefore I am at my sewing machine as I speak, with a design for a pleated mask which has a place to insert a filter made from.....wait for it.......a HEPA vacuum cleaner bag which has been cut apart. Also, microfiber shop towels work, trapping pollen etc..

I can therefore wash the masks and change the filters... Now if I can just remember how to operate my sewing machine, lol!!!!!

@🌳Brenavere🌳 that sounds pretty awesome! And shop towels is a great idea. We’re all gonna be getting pretty creative. I still can’t believe some people were stocking up on two years of toilet paper 🙄

Thanks for the great picture to remind all of us about the new guideline..(it was my personal guideline more than a month ago)

I know right??? At my house the toilet paper was also a “man” thang. My husband freaked and I now have over a 100 rolls of it... *eye roll*. Did I mention “MEN” “UGH” lol

@🌳Brenavere🌳 what worries me is that so many aren’t even aware of the change. I went out today people were oblivious. I bought Kleenex when tp ran out. There was a great discussion about alternatives on Twitter. One guy mentioned coffee filters and he’s right! I have two dozen cheap washcloths. If necessary I’ll use them and launder them just like we did cloth diapers.

@🌳Brenavere🌳 @Glitterspray Now we know where all the TP went 😄 Seriously, the HEPA filter from vacuum bag is a great idea. I made my husband’s mask from the leg of an old pair of blue jeans. He’s sort of OK with denim, not so much with the old pink pillowcase I made mine from 😄

thank you so much for passing this on! 🍓☀️😘🥕🥕🥕 i’ve been trying to keep up on the CDC and WHO websites but also keep balanced. not everyone around me is doing well with the educated and logical precautions versus the fear or the apathy. it’s exhausting. i did come up with a good idea for teachers/art teachers and am working on a picture to post 🤗🌈 i hope this finds you well!

I went to Whole Foods yesterday to look for TP, 🧻🧻🧻 was thrilled to be able to buy a single package as I was almost out, while there 100% of the customers and staff were wearing masks, including me. Made two other stops, only about 40% of the people were wearing masks there. Wash your hands folks, stay safe, be well, break out the books and the jigsaw puzzles, and the 🍹🍹🍹
