I’ve reluctantly decided not to renew my RC subscription this month. (NOT leaving RC)
I pay $80 a year for two things: custom colors and the excitement of Daily New pics. Half of my reason is gone — don’t think it’s coming back anytime soon either. 👇🏼

3 years agoRC has been super condescending with their explanations: “COVID is impacting everyone.”
Oh thank you. Now I know why I’ve been self-isolating for a year. Why I turned down several jobs when offerers said it was up to them to decide when it’s safe for me to go into the office. 👇🏼

3 years agoBut RC won’t explain why their 100% online business model — with artists and customers around the world — is unable to cope.
Losing my subscription will impact them 0%. Irrelevant to me; I just want to let go of my cranky.
I feel much better not paying for what I’m not getting. And as a non-subscriber, I won’t be contacting support; so I won’t have to put up with more condescension. 😁

3 years agoIt’s a win. I seldom go to my custom colours except for a couple of them. Mostly because no matter how hard I’ve tried or what instructions I’ve read I can’t figure it out. The ones I love were by complete luck. And not that you need my co-sign but I’m all for ANYTHING that decreases stress these days🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 as always- adore you♥️

3 years ago@Abigail Brown we’d have to have a Zoom meeting for me to show you how to do it! Even after all these years it’s still frustrating.
Seems like such a trivial decision but for me it really wasn’t! That said, it’s reversible 🙂

3 years agoI understand your decision completely! What I don’t understand is Recolor not providing new art. It doesn’t affect me all that much since I mostly import, but for so many it’s a BFD and it makes ZERO sense.

3 years ago@Riverbank they say “cuz COVID” but they don’t say what that means or why a 100% online service hasn’t figured out how to cope.
They’re also blowing away previous work I’ve done so I’ll “think” they’re new templates. Which is both insulting and infuriating!

3 years agoI've been AWOL for some time so I'm confused, are daily pics going away? I agree with @Abigail Brown whatever reduces your stress is the way to go. My renewal comes up in July, I would miss my custom colors, but haven't decided if I want to keep paying for them or not. I have never had a good experience with RC customer "support" so I'm never surprised when other folks are let down by them. Stay well, stay safe, 😷

3 years ago@Valentine “Dailies” are still a thing.
They’re mostly pics you colored some time ago. As in several years ago.
Mine are usually stripped of their original colors.
“Daily New” is becoming obsolete. You may see a new template every few days. Often they’re old templates tweaked and repurposed.
Don’t worry! Your existing custom colors will still be there. You just won’t be able to create new ones.
Knowing you, you can create at LEAST 1,000 colors between now and your expiration 🤣

3 years ago@Valentine I know your experience with CS wasn’t exactly pleasant. But at least we were dealing with human beings who gave somewhat of a shit..
Now it’s all bots and Tier 1 — and frankly it’s hard to know which you’re dealing with.
I’ve been told three times that I should free memory on my iPhone to create more storage.
The first time it happened I sent an explanation of the difference between memory and storage.
Reno jumped in and said “our people know the difference.”

... Is that why they keep telling me to do the same idiotic thing?
(I asked twice to be told how to see my iPhone “memory usage.” No response lol.)
So even the imperfect but not stupid people I used to deal with are no longer available — literally and/or because they drank the “Revenue!” Koolaid.
Regardless, you can reverse your cancellation instantly any time you want.
If we ever start getting some actually fun and interesting new templates, I’ll likely resubscribe.

3 years agoAfter reading your initial post I did go and look at the "new" templates. And saw, of course, a lot of reruns. I can see why you dropped your subscription. I'm here so infrequently I likely won't pay for another year come July. But who knows. If I drop my subscription I can still import images and my existing customs will still exist but without the ability to make new ones? I had it in my mind that if you drop the subscription all custom gradients vanish. 😷

2 years ago@Valentine you keep your custom colors but can’t create new ones. The only way you lose your colors is if you delete the app or move to a new device.
And, assuming you can still subscribe a week at a time, we can always resubscribe long enough to create a few hundred new colors 🤣🤣🤣
And you can still import as long as you watch a video. I wouldn’t mind the videos so much if they were shorter or actually interesting. 🙄

2 years agoYou're making paying the subscription fee look pretty good @Glitterspray I try to eliminate stress and hassles where I can. I'm not here on RC much, but when I am it needs to be easy peasy 🍋 squeezy. 🤣🤣🤣
