..redoing some of my recent rushed ones... I appreciate you all so much!! Thank you for your kindness & support.
Quick question - I’m not on social media so I don’t have a way to bring this up, but:
How do you feel about copying?
Inspiration is great, and if you name the original I don’t have an issue.
But I’m bothered by those using other people’s work and not saying so, especially when getting a Spotlight. Your thoughts?

There are many who copy on here and it is wrong!! I tried to report someone, but, it wasn't my art and so I couldn't. You have to report people who steal your art. evieroberts.x has done it several times and been called out, yet still has the images on her page.
The artist has to report the thief....

3 years ago@punkN’ Do you mean coloring it the same way as the original or screenshot and then reposting? Coloring it like the original is okay by me, but if a person is screen shooting a pic and pass it off as their coloring--that's flat out stealing and childish. Fair point, although I’m not sure what it’ll actually do.
My solution was to follow the person - they still copy others, and are still in the Spotlight, but they don’t copy me anymore.
I found at least five *exact* copies of my work in the past eighteen months.
And - importantly - I don’t mind people being inspired and experimenting with different styles and techniques. It’s not crediting the original artist - pretending it’s your own creation - that bothers me.

3 years ago@punkN’ I would incorporate a symbol or your initials into the picture somehow. Hidden where only you know it's in it. I need to set aside a ReColor Prime day and just comment and send out thanks. It does get over whelming.

I mean creating a copy of someone else’s work - not a screen shot - an exact copy.
Comments on the images congratulate them for their interesting color/shading choices and combinations.
But those are *my* color combinations and choices, not this other person’s. At least half their gallery is a copy of other people’s work (not just mine), but they’re taking credit and have gotten the spotlight several times.
Doesn’t feel quite right...

This is quite a topic. And the reason why I write my username on everything 😳
About copying there's a difference between asking the original artist to make their version of it vs just going and do the same details, colors, shading....it's frustrating sometimes.
I get inspired from many of the artists here, honestly it's not difficult to write "@ inspired me!". But people love to bring difficulty in simple things 👀

3 years agoI must be wearing rose colored glasses. I never really noticed. there is a way to block them or to comment that the picture is inappropriate.if you press the three dots on the right you can report the person. Maybe that would work.

3 years ago@Dee Van - buuuut it’s only foe things like hate speech. Blocking doesn’t seem to do anything, either - just keeps them from commenting (they can still see your work).
Seriously - they stopped copying me once I started following them (but unfortunately are still copying others).

They’re absolutely pretending it’s their work, and unfortunately an incorporated signature isn’t going to do anything in this particular case. They could easily edit it out.
What’s weird - they seem to have skill, so why copy?!?!
And yeah, I completely agree - it’s no big deal to say who inspired you. I do it all the time, and I’m grateful for being able to see everyone’s creativity and techniques!

3 years ago@punkN’ I understand what you're saying. In my opinion not only are they cheating the original artist, but they're cheating themselves. There are many, many talented artists on here and yes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but if you only copy someone's work you'll never cultivate your own style. A style that a lot of people might favor above the artist the thief is ripping off.

Oh, following the person seems to have stopped them from copying me.
But they’re still copying others (saw an upset comment by someone I admire - it was also obvious when I first saw the work).
But they got the Spotlight *again*.
...It’s so obvious I’m surprised ReColor hasn’t picked up on it before now, but... 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
