3 years ago@A Good Human The not so smart thing would be not to ask when you don't know or don't understand something. When someone comments "follow me" "like my picture" "check my gallery" "join my contest" ... Anything not related to the picture and that draws attention to you the commenter is considered self promotion, by commenting things like these you for a lack of a better word are promoting yourself,wich is rude and against the guidelines. I hope this answers your question if not let me know.
