Liz and Tim in a rare moment of harmony. Labor Day Weekend 1970. Mom and Dad took us to stay at Arlene’s cabin up at Pelican Lake. It was chilly and too cold to swim much but we still had our tans and sun-bleached hair. The neighbors had a lamb named Penny who ran the beach. She was adorable β€” and hard to catch! But we finally did and Dad snapped a pic. The original is b&w but I remember exactly what we were wearing. Mom confirmed. πŸ™‚ πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Mom had two friends that we saw only occasionally: Marian and Arlene. One day I asked her when Marian became Arlene and Arlene became Marian. She almost fell out of her chair laughing. Then, in tears, explained that Marian had always been Marian and Arlene had always been Arlene. Didn’t buy it then; not sure I buy it now.

This picture is priceless!!! My very best friend when I was growing up, her name is Sharon. She moved to our school district in 3rd grade. We instantly became best friends! She and I also had the white blonde hair like you and your brother. When we got into high school she was in FFA. Every year she would get a baby lamb and when it was a grown sheep πŸ‘ she’d show it at the fair. This reminds me of her. I love it!!!

@Abigail Brown this one was especially hard! All those grasses, for one thing, and it took a while to replicate the colors I had in mind.

@Tee H I agree! In fact my mom used to β€œbreak” our tv at the beginning of every summer. We were in the lake all day and reading all night. Childhood summers are the best πŸ™‚πŸ’–

@FΓ©nix it’s really fun to talk them over with mom. I get some backstory and I also find out that some of my memories don’t match reality. I’ll say, β€œremember when we always used to do x?” And mom will say, β€œwe did it twice.” πŸ˜‚

@Glitterspray Way to go Mom!! We were simply forbidden from watching it during the day. With 4 siblings someone was always willing to tattle or blackmail anyone else who broke the rules πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Hey, what else are brothers and sisters for?

@Abigail Brown almost as bad as doing all that wispy stuff in the fairy template! (Most of Which I didn’t bother with.)
