So this fall I will be auditioning for my first musical!! I’ve done three plays before and I’m so excited. I am a soprano and I’m looking for a good audition song. Currently I’m considering “goodbye my love” from ragtime. I’m not auditioning for a specific character, just for the ensemble.

3 years ago@Musical Theater Geek Musicals are so much fun!! My advice is pay attention on choreography! 😂 hehe.. I didn’t 😞😂 I’m also a soprano. So there is first soprano and second soprano. First is just higher than second. Anyway... getting off track. 🤪 just relax and have fun!! And when ur relax it’s easier to hit the notes. Oh and!! Before, drink water, water, and water!!! No dairy!! And to be safe(totally optional) have lemon tea with honey in it. Anyway, hopes this helps!!!

3 years agoOkay, I’ve done about 7 musicals within the past 2 years so here’s some advice; before an audition, drink LOTS of water and no dairy/ acidic drinks, those will make you really congested. I’m an alto, so I don’t really have soprano advice for you lol, just try and relax and take deep breaths. Also, for a soprano audition song, No One Else from Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812 is absolutely beautiful. Hope this helped💕

3 years agoI’m so excited for you! I can’t say I’m super talented in the musical theater department, but I’ve been in 7 school musicals so far so... I’ll give you my best shot! I would say educate yourself on everything you can. Practice lines, find new musicals for reference and learning (and your own enjoyment of course😂), and sing sing sing! But don’t sing so much that you lose your voice. That would be bad. Last thing: make sure you take care of yourself, it’s SO incredibly important. Much love💖

3 years ago@Musical Theater Geek so I have been doing musicals my whole life. Be confident. Be prepared. Have passion and show how you are right for what you want to get. Interact with others and always do what the director says. If they also you to sing somewhere not in your vocal range, just try your best. Don't ever say you can't. Also make sure you have fun!

3 years agoFor les mis audition with a more opera-y song. I would also recommend singing something that takes a lot of power so they know you can sing the whole show. I was in the ensemble for les mid and it was so fun! You are going to LOVE being in a musical
