((Part 20 and Counting! I'd love to say thank you to everyone for making this possible, and good night!)) The duo stood up, silhouetted against the lights of Paris. "You said he was headed downtown, right?" Ladybug asked. Deep down, her Marinette side was still trying not to flip out that her flirty superhero sidekick was the shy and quiet Adrien. But there were more important things to do, like capturing Hawkmoth, so she forced her mind back to the present. "I didn't see where, but our best bet would be to check every mansion for any oddities. Like a huge window, or evil lair, or butterfly image." Chat Noir replied. Ladybug's hand went to her hip, brushing nothing but air. Her yoyo was always her main defense for any occasion. Without it, if she fell from this height, she would be a polka dot pancake on the ground. Once again she leapt off the Eiffel Tower, letting the air flow through her hair as she closed her eyes, trusting Chat to catch her. He did, and they swung through the empty streets to the rich district. He scanned every house for any signs, but came up with nothing. Then Ladybug tapped his side, pointing with her free hand. "Over there!" she hissed, looking at a huge stained glass window. It was light purple, with a large decorative butterfly design. They landed on an adjacent rooftop, peering through the glass. It was a huge circular floor, with a metal walkway leading to the center of the atrium and lined with support beams. "We found it. His lair." Chat whispered, clicking his staff shut. He took a flying jump off of the edge, but dangled pointlessly in the air as Ladybug grabbed his tail. "Not so fast. kitty." For a model he's pretty impulsive, she thought. "We need a plan, remember? This is Hawkmoth we're facing. Do you not understand how fast he akumatized me? If he could do that, he could definitely do it to you. And don't slip up and use our civilian names, either. That would lead to an entire new issue." He hated being wrong, but Chat had to agree. "All right, milady. What do you suggest?" She thought back to what his weapon was, remembering a purple cane. "His cane helps channel his power, so I'd say break it so he's weaponless. Then we look for his Miraculous-the brooch. I didn't see it on him, though. Once we do that, he'll detransform, and...I guess go to prison for assault on civilians..." Ladybug trailed off. That would have to be the punishment. Hawkmoth was a criminal, but something was telling her there was a reason. Either way, he was guilty. "On my count. One-Two-Three!" The superheroes jumped off of the rooftop, landing silently on the ground. Chat scaled the side of the building while Ladybug disabled whatever security systems she could find. As they approached the huge window, Ladybug put her hand on Chat's. "Whatever happens...just remember who the true enemy is, okay? And to be fair, I'm still freaking out that you're Adrien Agreste, but instead of flipping out let's use it to our advantage. We've known each other for years. We know everything about each other, which makes us unstoppable." She raised her fist, smiling at Chat. "Pound it?" He obliged. "Pound it." He pulled one of the glass panes out of the window, easing himself into the room. Ladybug followed. The lair was a lot bigger than she'd seen; a huge chamber filled with fluttering white butterflies. The two circled the room, looking for any oddities, but came up empty-handed. "I guess he's in civilian form?" Ladybug whispered to her partner. As soon as the words left her mouth there was a colossal crash, sending her sprawling on the ground. Hawkmoth dropped from the ceiling wielding his staff. "Don't expect to leave this room with your Miraculous." he snapped, raising his hand. An akuma flew into it, turning a deep midnight black. Ladybug backed away as it flew toward her, heading for her earrings. How is it heading for me? I'm not angry, sad, or scared! she thought frantically.
