It's the last day of Pride Month, my favorite month! So I had to post one last 🌈 for my LGBTQ+ community & our allies. Especially after the Supreme Court's decision that came down today in favor of a graphic designer who designs wedding websites, but wants to refuse service to same-sex couples. She's required by state law to provide service to all customers, but she argued that it "violated her free speech rights". The Supreme Court ruled in her favor (due to its abundance of far right conservatives). This ruling could mean that not only may businesses discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community, but also BIPOC, Jewish, Muslim, AAPI, interracial or interfaith couples, and immigrants. It's a very slippery & scary slope the Court has created with this decision. Freedom is not freedom without equality. A true democracy doesn't have 2nd class citizens! I am disgusted that a hypothetical scenario just opened the door. We are not supposed to govern with Religion! Christ didn't discriminate or hate anyone, but he fully defended all marginalized people. Inch by inch ... fascism is taking over. It is vile, it is tragic and if not stopped ... the United States will no longer exist in a few years.
