Hours in front of liquid tv
Early sunlight on scuffed knees
Vacant rooms, empty spaces
In a trance that’s nearly wasted
Peering out the window green
Stuck in a world between
Cold metal on delicate skin
Hand cupping angled chin
Ears perked, pleading for sound
Elbow planted on table browned
Yearning for life from fresh air
Such wonder will never compare

3 years agoThis is a poem of my childhood. Growing up as an only child was really lonely and hard on me because I used to be a social person. Almost every morning for years, I would wake up before sunrise and watch tv for hours. And when it was daytime and I wasn’t in school, I stared out the window on the backdoor and watched the small forest-like setting as it progressed with a slow hum. I always wanted to go outside, but I knew I’d get in trouble.

3 years agoI can’t remember doing anything else in that time. I had toys like legos and stuffed animals, but I can’t recall genuinely enjoying playing with them. I’m not saying it was the worst or my parents didn’t care for me, I’m saying that quarantine has reminded me of this time and how small and empty I am. // art & poem belong to me

3 years agoWow, I cannot tell you how much I love this poem. Quarantine , too, reminded me of my childhood. I’m sorry that as a child you were lonely. And why were you not allowed to go out side?

3 years agoI was too young. We have this kinda big backyard without fencing except on the side of the pasture. And the fencing there was barbed-wire to keep the cattle in. That and my parents were extremely overprotective at the time because there were a lot of opossums invading at night. But, of course, at the time I didn’t know that.

3 years agoAh, thank you. It sounds nice where you lived. Were you allowed to feed the cattle? Or were they not yours. I’ve never own cattle before but, my mother used to own lots of chickens and a pumpkin patch. It was quite nice. It would make things a lot calmer if we lived back in Colorado.

3 years agoWe didn’t own the cattle, but we threw rotten fruits and veggies over the fence and they always got eaten by something out there. I remember one summer I was able to coax one to let me pet her by offering watermelon. I’ve always wanted to own livestock, but I guess that’ll be a dream. At least for now. Those pheasants and fruits sound quite nice. @•ЕИABLED RESОURSЭ•👁🗨

3 years agoWether you owned them or not, it sounds very nice. I’m sure your dream will come true. I’d love to live on a farm. Both my mother and I love the nature and things related. She’s always wanted to own livestock such as goats, pigs, cows, horses ect.

3 years agoI wish I knew what I wanted from life. I want to do so many different things, things that I’m decent at and can be good at with reinforcement. But they’re all so different and I possibly couldn’t pick one so I feel like I’m missing out either way.
I hope y’all can live on a farm or something similar. Sometimes, I think the simplest lifestyle is the best. @•ЕИABLED RESОURSЭ•👁🗨

3 years agoI agree. I hate that your feeling like your missing out. This particular part of life may take a very long time, so don’t worry about it too much. Take your time and enjoy it. You have many more years to think about it. If I may ask, what are the things you’d like to do later in life?

3 years agoMainly biology. But even one subject in school is such a big field. I’ve narrowed it down to medicine, lab work, exploration, and engineering. I’m afraid I won’t be satisfied with any of them. Then also I kinda like astrophysics and chemistry, but I’m not smart enough for that yet 😂 @•ЕИABLED RESОURSЭ•👁🗨

3 years agoI believe you can master astrophysics. As long as your willing to put all of the time and effort you have to give. If you want to do it, then you can. Why not all of them? It may take time, but if your willing to do it then it’s a fantastic idea. I’m fascinated in astrophysics and planetary science. I hope you can find one that fits you just perfectly.
