The soil of Asgard is soft beneath my feet as I watch Zaedia mourn.
Axel’s body still lies on the sandy dirt, where Zaedia killed him only moments ago.
She hasn’t realized Dreama and I are here.
But then she does.
Her silver eyes meet my own and she just shakes her head, tears pouring down her lovely face.
“History repeats itself,” I say slowly. “Thor gave up, gave in to Loki.”

4 years ago Zaedia wipes the tears from her eyes and stands, pulling Spectre up with her. Fuzzy growls as a griffin near her feet.
But then her knees drop and she collapses in tears again.
Dreama stands beside me, watching.
I almost feel bad. But we’re both about to have a dead sibling, then all will be well.
She looks at my feet. “You’re the reason Axel is dead. Loki is gone. Sene is broken, and Thorne is evil.”
“Yes,” I say smoothly.
“How can you live with that?”

Zaedia looks down again, but when she meets my gaze again... her eyes are fully black.
And suddenly I remember a vision Axel once had.
Zaedia had had black eyes......
Suddenly Spectre grows in her hands, from a small dagger to a sword as long as I am tall.
A fiery crown of twisted black metal appears on her head, as black armor shifts around her body.

And slams it into the soil of Asgard, as hard as she can. I gasp and start stumbling back as the ground tears open.
“Drop to your death,” Zaedia hisses.
I manage to get out of the way as the crack grows bigger, but Dreama falls.
“No!” I cry, throwing my axe.
It snags Dreama’s shirt, pinning her to one of the rocky walls, over ten feet down.
I look up at Zaedia, honestly scared.
“The sword of Surtr has been placed within-

4 years agoAsgard’s crust,” She says. Then she holds up a key.
I glance quickly at the crack in the ground, panicked to find it thousand of meters deep, and over twenty feet across.
Zaedia holds the key above the drop. “This key frees Fenrir...”
“Zaedia, give it to me,” I beg.
She drops it. “Which will you save? Your lover or your plan?”
I jump in after the key, but a huge scream fills the air and I’m thrown back.
Blood fills my mouth and I groan.
Zaedia is above me now, standing-

And suddenly Thorne comes up behind her and slams his sword through her lower abdomen.
