What beautiful coloring! The California quail is a highly sociable bird that gathers in small flocks or "coveys". They do regular dust baths. Quails find an area where the ground is soft and burrow downward into the soil one to two inches with their bellies. They wriggle about in the indentations, flapping their wings and ruffling their feathers, causing dust to rise in the air. A fabulous choice for the Beautiful Bird Challenge, Lisa. Such wonderful artwork. Thank you for participating.
