Hi luvs! Someone requested a school-related story so that’s what I’m gonna do this week (even though I kinda did it last week too 😅)
But first: a quick lil thing… I was (finally) cleaning out my backpack last night ~ my school ended on June 13 so it’s been sitting there for a while ~ and I found a half-eaten sandwich in my lunchbox 😆 tried to get my brother to eat it but he wouldn’t 💀😭
Today’s Saturday Story is a story from my biology class last school year (sophomore year).

3 years agoMy bio teacher, Ms. W, was a great teacher, but she got distracted easily, was hated by 90% of the student body (I liked her) and had a nice, but subtle, sense of humor.
We were piloting this new, untested, genetics curriculum. The unit we were in was on UV radiation, how it caused cells to become cancerous by damaging their DNA, and the impact malfunctioning DNA-repair enzymes had on an organism.
There was supposed to be a lab in that unit in which we would expose normal yeast and

3 years agoyeast with malfunctioning DNA-repair enzymes to sunlight and other types of lights and observe its growth.
So Ms. W was describing this lab, and we were all kinda interested bc she made it sound cool, and then she said, “There are two small problems: you need safety goggles, which I don’t have, and the yeast hasn’t arrived in the mail yet”
The fact that she considered those SMALL problems blew my mind~ to me, those were large problems bc we literally couldn’t do the lab until they were

We did end up getting to do the lab, but it was delayed about a week. The yeast had been delivered to the wrong address and Ms. W ended up finding 100 pairs of safety goggles in an empty science classroom
So yeah, that’s the story. I’m not sure what y’all are gonna think of this, and now that I’ve written it, I’m thinking it’s not as good as previous stories but it’s done, so~

3 years agoAnyway, there’s no QOTD today, for two reasons: I can’t think of anything and I don’t want to spend time thinking of anything bc I really need food 🤪

3 years agohaha!!! i went to a small co-op a few years back (i’m homeschooled fyi) and my teachers would do things like that all the time there was always something missing!!! also beautiful picture btw!

3 years agoFirst, lovely pic!!!! Second, GREAT story! As a high school teacher, I love these stories!!! I just can’t get over your teacher’s labeling the problems as “small”! I’d be like, “Guys, this totally blows…” but I was always very up front with my students and told it like it was! I enjoyed the story very much AND I’m glad that you all finally got to eventually do the lab!

Great story, I have had many teachers like that. ( They say we are doing something but she/he don't have the supplies we need for what we are going to do) if that makes any sense 🤣🤣
