What a gorgeous western phase great horned owl, Kim! Absolutely fabulous coloring! With its long, earlike tufts, intimidating yellow-eyed stare, and deep hooting voice, the Great Horned Owl is the quintessential storybook owl. This powerful predator can take down birds and mammals larger than itself, but it also dines on daintier fare. Itโs one of the most common owls in North America (ebird.org). Thank you for sharing it and for joining the Beautiful Bird Challenge.
