Recolor Friends, as you may know we’re treating our 2 yr old GSD for Lyme disease. He’s progressing slowly. Yesterday morning I saw a small scrape on my husband’s side, upon closer inspection, to my horror, it was a black legged deer tick! I quickly pulled it out. He already had a “Bullseye “ rash, he called his Dr and they gave him a dose of antibiotics he’s got an appointment Friday anyway. If anyone has dealt with this let me me know. 🙏

So sorry. My friend is still on antibiotics for it. I know it causes sun sensitivity. 🙏

Yikes!! Where do you live? I mean we have them here in Ca too but not in the city but I am going to the lake next week and although we have been going there for 30 plus yrs none of us has ever got a tic on us there! I literally would freak n they would have to knock me out...I’m a strong person but they creep me out big time! Thoughts and prayers sweetie

Tammy, I have Lyme. First time was in 1988, misdiagnosed as a “summer cold” treated with Zithromax. In 1989, had swelling in my hands after being bite by another tick, developed the red “bullseye” misdiagnosed again, no treatment given, since the doctors did not know what they were dealing with. Over the course of the next 40 years, I was misdiagnosed so many times until I finally said to my doc, do a blood test for Lyme.

Continued - He did, but it came back “inconclusive.” Then I started reading any and all literature regarding Lyme I could get my hands on. This was back when cases were only found in the Northeastern United States, I live in the Midwest. Usual course is antibiotics and Prednisone. It never leaves your system, this is with you for life. I have arthritis in my hands and fingers, have a “frozen” left wrist. Have had heart issues related as well as some memory loss.

Continued - My doc has me on standby doxycycline, so if I get another tick bite, I call my drugstore and the prescription is filled immediately. He recently did a Lyme titer on me. There are nine levels. Every single one was at the top end and he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. So far, I am not in a wheelchair, which inevitably one day I know I will be. Take each day, one day at a time, have a positive outlook when you want to stay in bed and sleep all day because of the pain. Good Luck.

@JustMe (Marie) ♏️ Wow. firstly, thanks for sharing. second, I'm at a loss for words about your condition. I've been searching for anything related to Lyme Disease and unfortunately they have more information for Lyme in animals than people! I couldn't believe it! You'd think with all the advancement in technology and medicine they would have a vaccine for Lyme. There is so much unknown. my husband took 2 antibiotics, two! That's what they gave him after we called about the tick and rash.

@JustMe (Marie) ♏️ continued, the bullseye rash cleared up and there's still a spot on his side and he happened to have a scheduled doctor appointment today 100 miles away, one way. so he's currently enroute to that. I'm home with our GSD and we've been giving him steadily doxycycline, Prednisone and stomach meds to keep it all down. he's finally showing signs of improvement! He's not limping, and he's eating and starting to want to play. I'm hoping it holds, because he'd seem better then get

@JustMe (Marie) ♏️ continued worse, seemingly one step forward and a half step back. I'm hoping that my husband's doctor will give him at least a week or so supply of doxycycline because with his MRSA, compromised immune system, He's had Necrotizing Fasciitis back in 03' 04 almost lost his life and or leg. plus Diabetes type 2. so he doesn't need Lyme on top of it all. And I don't know if they could even test for it yet. Anyway I

@JustMe (Marie) ♏️ continued will keep you posted as to what happens. I sincerely wish you the best and am so sorry it took so long for you to be diagnosed. the information you have given me certainly will be very helpful. I am just hoping he doesn't actually get Lyme. Hopefully we found the tick soon enough. 🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏
